Carmen Bulgarelli, known by her maiden name, later became the Marchioness Campori through her marriage to a marquis from Modena, a city with an aristocratic lineage tracing back to the 15th century. Her professional life unfolded primarily outside of Italy, as she had limited appearances in her homeland, focusing predominantly on opera. Initially trained as a soprano, she was regarded as a trailblazer among women in the field of conducting.

After facing vocal cord issues that cut short a promising singing career, she transitioned to conducting, where she achieved remarkable success. She took the conductor’s podium over 500 times in some of the most prestigious theaters worldwide.
